Sedaris was very disappointing.

I had never read any of his books but my wife has told me for years about his great stories of growing up in a big family and all the funny stuff that happens. So I bought her tickets for this event as a surprise gift and we were excited to go. The show was totally not what I expected and not what she expected. He was using foul language, jokes about abortions and opening a bait shop on the side, oral sex with his partner ("I had that in my mouth ten minutes ago, now it's a private part?"), and even the "C" word (cunt). My wife has been a fan of his for 20 years, she wanted to walk out. I thought she wanted to walk out because she saw that I was uncomfortable, but she told me later that she was really disgusted. I could tell later that she had a sense of disappointment and almost even betrayal that this storyteller that had related all of these beautiful family stories had to use disgusting topics at the live show. He's free to do whatever he wants, just wanted to let people know that if you were looking forward to hearing his family stories, that's not was this show was.
